About the holocaust

the us army liberates Buchenwald concentration The American third army liberates the Buchenwald concentration camp, near Weimar, Germany, a camp that will be judged second only to Auschwitz in the horrors in imposed on its prisoners. Approximately 238,000 prisoners, many of them Jews, but also non-Jewish poles Russians, and dissident Germans, had been incarcerated in Buchenwald since its dedication but even it this temporary detention camp, some 56,000 had died of been murdered when the forward platoons of Americans arrived on the morning of 11 April 1945 only about 20,000 prisoners remained. (Stephen’s)
Some of the first Americans to enter the camp vomited as their eyes beheld what their minds could not. Absorb. Soon after the takeover, General Dwight Eisenhower, commander of the allied forces in Europe, arrived.\\\" I have never felt able to describe my emotional reaction when I came face to face with indisputable evidence of Nazi brutality and ruthless disregard of every shred of human decency.\\\" he wrote \\\"up to that moment I had only known about it generally, or through secondary sources I am certain, however equal sense of shock. (Mitchell’s)
Before the Americans arrived, the camp had already been taken over by the communist prisoners who had killed some of the guards and forced the rest to flee into the nearby woods. There were approximately 21,000 prisoners at Buchenwald on the day it was liberated. On the morning of April 12, 1945, soldiers of the 80th infantry division arrived in the nearby town of Weimar and found it deserted except for some of the liberated prisoners roaming around. Buchenwald, s most famous survivor, elite wisely, wrote that after the liberation of the Buchenwald camp, some of the inmates drove in American jeeps to Weimar, where they took homes, and randomly killed German civilians (Edward’s)

Transport of gypsies to Auschwitz

ON December 16, 1942, hammer ordered that all gypsies be interned, since they like the jeeps they should e exterminated. The first gypsy transport, organized by the reichssicherheitshaupo tam, reached Auschwitz of February 26,1943 many trains followed gypsies were not submitted under selections, The gypsy camp were brought to Auschwitz from the whole of central Europe, many thousands of then in a vary short time. (Jerek, m)
Between May 14 and July 8, 1944,437,402 Hungarian Jews were deported to Auschwitz in 48 trains this was probably the largest single mass deportation during the holocaust. But there were also some transports, which the ss killed in the gas chambers immediately after their arrival. Mostly, these transports came from the east and were suspected of carrying epidemic diseases. But by the lute 1930\\\'s the Nazi killed thousands of handicapped Germans by lethal injection and poisonous gas. (The paten web journal)
The SS promised the gypsies that their in he camp would only by temporary before they should be resettled in new areas in eastern Europe the majority of them died already in the camp because of the disastrous life conditions and the bad treatment by the German prisoners when infectious diseases broke out in the gypsy camp. The inmates of two blocks were gazed in order to prevent the spread of the epidemic. In spring 1944 the ss started to dissolve the gypsy camp. (Louis)
